POOR DAISY

Friday before we were to take Daisy and Buster to meet my sister Jamie so that she could dog sit while we were in Aruba Matt call's me at work. I just happened to answer the phone and he told me that Daisy was only walking on 3 feet. I told him to watch her for a little bit and see if she starts walking on it. About an hour later he decided to make a vet appointment. The vet thought that she had a ligament in her knee popped out of place. The doctor told him that it might correct itself but if it didn't then she would need surgery and gave him some anti-inflamatory medicine.

We left Daisy with my sister for 5 days and told her to watch her to see if she was doing better. Well when we got back she was doing a little better but still isn't really using her back leg. She will walk on it for a little bit but won't use it for long. So we decided to make her another appointment for the vet to get her checked out again. The vet pretty much told us that she needs surgery
since it hasn't really gotten any better to deepen the groove swhere the ligament goes so it won't pop out anymore. So needless to say in 2-4 weeks Daisy will have surgery to correct the problem until then we have a three legged dog.

  1. Yeah but I don't think she realizes she's only using 3 legs.

  2. Fenway had surgery for her luxating patella. Aside from having to wear a cone for a few weeks, she did just fine. Sometimes just flexing and extending the leg a few times when they're holding it up will snap the tendon into place until she has the surgery.
