Joel Alexander is HERE!!!

After going to our weekly appointment last Thursday where I had high blood pressure the doctor sent us over to L&D for some testing. She wanted to test me for pre-eclampsia and monitor my pressures. All of my blood tests came back fine but my pressures were still high so she sent us home on modified bed rest and to make an appointment for Monday hinting at the fact that if my blood pressure was still high she would induce me.

Well after resting all weekend we went back to the doctor on Monday and had even higher blood pressure. She sent us straight over to L&D to get induced. We waited and waited for her to come over to break my water and get things started. At 5 pm they got things started and by 1 AM I needed an epidural. At 5 AM we started pushing and Joel was born at 7:26 AM.

We have definitely enjoyed our time with him so far. He is such a good baby. He doesn't really cry unless you are messing with him to much. He sleeps all the time and even slept 5 hours last night. We know that this isn't necessary how things are going to be but he is such a good baby right now. He is a champ feeder too. He has taken right to nursing.

He has had a touch of jaundice so he has been under the biliruben lights since 6 PM last night. We do get to see him every 3 hours when he comes back to the room to feed. We are hoping that his numbers have went down this morning and will be released to go home.

36 wk dr appointment

We had another ultrasound this morning to measure the babies fluid levels. They came out at 15 which is great. They also measured the baby and he is estimated right now to be 6 lbs 11 oz. Everything else looks great. I am still 2 cm 50% effaced. So we are still waiting for our little guy to arrive.

doctors appointment

Well Matt and I just got back from the doctors appointment and our suspicions were confirmed that the baby had dropped. The doctor said that I was 2 cms and 50% effaced. So sounds like this baby may have a July birthday but there is no way of telling when he will make his appearance.

35 wks/ doctors appointment

Matt and I had another doctors appointment on Thursday due to the amniotic fluid being low the last time we had an ultra sound. Well everything seems to be going alright. The baby is acting fine and the amniotic fluid has went from 9 to 11 in 2 weeks which is good. My blood pressure was a little high when they checked it so they are going to have me continue to come back every week but I don't have to do the Non Stress tests anymore unless the my blood pressure continues to be high. During our ultra sound to check the fluid level the technician put it on 4D so we could see what our little bundle of joy really looks like. Here are the pictures from that ultra sound.
